October 2026: Binti Product Features and Enhancements

As we head into October, we're wrapping up September with updates that give agencies more control over application workflows, help prevent duplicate records, and make key information easier to find across Licensing, Family Finding & Engagement, Placements & Care Management, and Service Referral Management.

Here's what's new.

Licensing

⚙️ Required Information Before Status Changes

Agencies can now choose information, such as provider id and  approval worker, that must be filled in before an application can move to a new status.

What's improved:

  • If required information is missing, workers are asked to complete it before moving the application forward.

This makes sure important information is captured at the right point in the application process. Reach out to your Binti team to set up status requirements for your agency.

🔍 Fewer Duplicate Records During Intake

We added new checks to the caregiver intake flow to help prevent duplicate records.

What's improved:

  • If an applicant's or co-applicant's Person ID is already in use at the agency, workers see a message right away and can correct it before moving on.
  • If a Family ID or RFA ID is already in use, workers see which ID is the duplicate, with a link to the existing license.
  • For agencies using the new intake flow, "Did you mean" suggestions show possible matches, including similar spellings, as workers add a new person.

📱 Better Mobile Experience in the Applicant Portal

We made the Applicant Portal easier to use on phones and other small screens.

What's improved:

  • Application stage titles, long form titles and reference fields display more cleanly in portrait mode.
  • Embedded orientation videos fit the screen width, even when the device is rotated.

These updates make it easier for applicants to complete forms and move through their application from a mobile device.

Family Finding

🧬 Clearer Potential Kin Online Search (PKOS) Results

We improved how Potential Relatives and Kin are organized in PKOS.

What's improved:

  • Results are sorted by strength of association, with the strongest connections first.
  • People who appeared as both a Relative and Kin are now listed once, under Potential Relatives.
  • Email addresses and phone numbers from CLEAR reports show up more consistently, without needing to open the PDF report to find them.
  • New guidance explains how CLEAR finds potential relatives using surnames and aliases.

Placements

🏡 Smarter Defaults in View Matching Families

When you click View Matching Families for a child, two filters are now applied automatically:

  • On Hold is set to Not on Hold, so families on hold are filtered out.
  • Minimum Availability matches the number of children in the search (1 bed for one child, 2 beds for a child and a sibling, and so on).

You can still change either filter after the results load.

👩‍👧 Redesigned Child Requirements in the Caregiver Portal

The redesigned Child Requirements experience is now available to caregivers.

What's improved:

  • Incomplete, Complete, and All tabs, with Incomplete shown first.
  • Sorting that puts overdue and upcoming requirements first.
  • Updated status and date filters.

Caregivers and caseworkers now see a more consistent experience, and families can quickly see what needs their attention.

Service Referral Management

🗂️ Redesigned Service Referral Details Page

The page has been reorganized so a referral's status and next steps are at the top.

What's changing:

  • The Status section is now at the top of the page, with Accept, Reject, and Close Referral actions in that section.
  • A new Edit button opens a side panel for updating the Acceptance Date, replacing the previous pop-up window.
  • The Details and Recipients sections are now one section, and section titles are shorter.

In Summary

September's updates focus on reducing duplicate work, giving agencies more control over their workflows, and making information easier to find and act on.
